The scratching of Smart Missile from Saturday's Sires' Produce Stakes compounded a horror week for Gooree Stud but they will still be chasing the juvenile feature with Shared Reflections.

The Anthony Cummings-trained, Gooree-owned, Smart Missile was scratched from the $3.5 million Golden Slipper last weekend when he became fractious in the barriers.

After trackwork on Thursday morning the unbeaten colt was sore and withdrawn from the Group One Sires (1400m) and the remainder of the autumn carnival.

He was the $2.50 favourite for the Sires.

"It's been a horror week. This morning's scratching topped it off and it can only get better," Gooree's Andrew Baddock said.

"It's very disappointing but we think he's a really nice colt for the future and we're not going to take any risks.

"He was sore behind this morning and it was a pretty easy decision to make.

"He goes for a spell as an unbeaten two-year-old and the only horse to beat Sepoy, so we've got a lot to look forward to with him."

Baddock described the disappointment of having Smart Missile scratched from the Golden Slipper last week as gut-wrenching.

"We got some compensation with Swift Alliance winning the last race but it was probably the toughest day we've had on a racetrack," he said.

"But we've been in it a long time, (owner) Mr Cojuangco was there and he's been in it a long time and he's learned to roll with the punches in this game. We've still got a horse in one piece and we've just got to move on."

The Gooree-owned Shared Reflections is trained by Gai Waterhouse and finished sixth in the Slipper.

The filly is now the $9.50 fourth favourite for the Sires behind new favourite Do You Think ($3.50) who won the Baillieu Handicap (1400m) on Slipper day.

Baddock is hoping the Gooree team's luck is about to change.

"We're about due," he said.

Shared Reflections has won two of her four starts including the Group Three Sweet Embrace Stakes (1200m) at Warwick Farm.

"She ran terrific in the Slipper and Damien Oliver got off her and said I would certainly be pressing on to the Sires and the Champagne Stakes with her," Baddock said.

"He said they just ran along very quick and she never got that chance to balance up.

"She's certainly looking for 1400 metres to a mile (1600m) and she'll love the 1400 at Randwick on her home track.

"She's certainly not without a decent hope in the race."
