Stradbroke Handicap placegetter Ortensia is a chance to back up in the Group One Winter Stakes at Eagle Farm on Saturday week providing the track is not rain affected.

Trainer Tony Noonan said he had kept the Testa Rossa filly in work with the intention of running in the 1400m fillies and mares feature but the weather would be the deciding factor.

"If the track is rain affected in any shape or form we wouldn't run her," Noonan said.

Noonan said he initially thought the Stradbroke effort for third to Black Piranha on a heavy track would be a hard race for her and may have bottomed her out for the time being.

"She's got an amazing recovery. I've never had a horse recover like her," he said.

The trainer said Ortensia was in great order and her blood was right after the race.

"She just eats and doesn't expend any energy. When you go back and have a look at the replay it was really only a working gallop, she just worked home from the turn.

"It wasn't a gutbuster, more so she didn't have any luck in the process."
