Bob Ingham's recent prediction to trainer Chris Waller that it was just a matter of time before the prominent owner's famous cerise colours were again being carried to victory on a regular basis has come true.

Waller had a chat with Ingham last week and was told not to worry about the lack of winners coming from his expensive bloodstock.

Ingham said their luck would change soon.

He was right, with $800,000 yearling purchase Dystopia scoring at Canterbury on Wednesday a day after $1.5 million buy and stablemate Little Surfer Girl won at Randwick.

"We agreed that things weren't going our way and we just needed some luck, he said not to worry and that things will start going our way and when they do the winners would flow," Waller said.

"Bob's been around the game a long time and knows what he's talking about."

Dystopia is one of the contingent of yearlings bought by Ingham at the 2008 Easter Sale where he spent around $24 million building his new venture after he sold his Woodlands breeding and racing empire to Sheikh Mohammed.

Lucky Elmo, the young iron horse who racked up 20 starts as a two-year-old, won at his first start as a three-year-old when he scored impressively in the Freeway Hotel Pool Comp Handicap (1200m).

Meanwhile, Queensland apprentice Michael Palmer wants to make Sydney his permanent home after he booted home his second city winner in as many days for trainer David Payne.

Palmer, 19, steered the impressive filly Elucidation to victory in the Freeway Republic Beer Handicap (1580m) following his win aboard stablemate Madibagold at Randwick on Tuesday.

The youngster is just over a month into his three-month loan to Rosehill trainer Con Karakatsanis and apart from the colder weather is loving life in Sydney.

Elucidation will be aimed at the Group One Spring Champion Stakes (2000m) at Randwick in October.

Kerrin McEvoy was blasted by trackside punters after he allowed a riderless horse, Runaway Playboy, to run his mount Tages off the track rounding the home turn in the Freeways Great Steaks Handicap (1900m).

Tages led to the turn but finished ninth.

"Get him some L-plates, he can't steer," one punter said.

"He got outridden by a riderless horse," another yelled.

Apprentice Blake Spriggs fell from Runaway Playboy after the bit snapped near the midway stage of the race.

Spriggs crashed to the turf but immediately got to his feet and was feeling fine shortly after the race.

Stewards opened an inquiry during which they inspected the gear used by trainer Grahame Shulman and were satisfied it was an accident and the equipment was not faulty.
