GOULBURN trainer Danny Williams is hoping a delayed exit from the winter carnival will reap a double-edged reward at Eagle Farm tomorrow, reports the Courier-Mail.
It says: Williams had planned to take his northern team of 15 horses home today but delayed travel a week and then until August 23. He has good chances tomorrow with Rambling On ($4.60) in the St Margaret's Boarders Handicap (2200m) and Taken ($7) in the Class Of 2012 Handicap (1500m).
Williams arrived in Queensland in early May but this winter has been frustrating for him with several setbacks and a run of wet tracks.
"I don't have many mud runners in the team so that was a real worry this year," he said. "It's been hard to get enough work into the horses to have them fit when the right races did come around. The first hurdle we hit was a viral problem which came through the stable soon after we arrived. That caused a delay as well."
