The push towards a fifth Golden Slipper continues at Canterbury on Wednesday for trainer Clarry Conners when Suzanne and Gunhilda put their credentials on the line.

Last week Irish Times and Seven Fly Seven ran one-two at Randwick to stake their claims for inclusion in the team with Conners hoping to have as many runners as possible in the $3.5 million race on the first Saturday in April.

Leading the charge is unbeaten filly Satin Shoes who runs in Saturday's Silver Slipper Stakes in the tartan, blue and green colours of Dr Edmund Bateman which will also be worn by debutante Gunhilda in the Grand Pavilion Maiden (1100m) at Canterbury.

"She is a very nice filly and she trialled really well," Conners said.

"I'm hoping she can go on to the Slipper and I'm hoping to have as many runners as I can.

"She is a half-sister to Belong To Many who was a great mare."

Belong To Many won her first start in March 2006 and went on to record another seven sprint victories, her last a commanding win in the 2009 Silk Stocking at the Gold Coast.

Gunhilda has had three barrier trials since the beginning of the season, the most recent on February 7 when she beat Aneto over 800 metres at Rosehill.

Aneto, who is trained by John Hawkes and his sons Michael and Wayne, will be among her opponents on Wednesday along with her stablemate.

Suzanne is raced by Dr Jack Woolridge and his wife Sue and ran fourth on debut on January 15 in an 1100m race at Rosehill won by Hollyweird who was stakes-placed at her next start at Sandown.

Darley will be represented in the Canterbury race by Pale, one of several youngsters Guy Walter trains for Sheikh Mohammed.

Pale has been educated with three barrier trials and will be ridden by Kerrin Mcevoy while stablemate Streama will have Hugh Bowman aboard.
