Clarry Conners has unearthed a couple of talented two-year-olds in recent weeks and the four-time Golden Slipper-winning trainer still has an ace or two to play.

Widden Stakes winner Georgette Silk and unbeaten youngster Decision Time have delivered Conners victories in Sydney's juvenile races for the past two Saturdays.

While Conners admitted he had aspirations his youngsters would step up to the plate, he said training two-year-olds was far from an exact science.

"I hoped to, that was the plan but things go wrong, they go shin-sore and that sort of thing," Conners said.

"I've only raced a couple and I've got a few to go yet."

One of those is Christmas who is set to make her debut in the Embasadora Hcp (1000m) at Warwick Farm on Wednesday.

It might be a low-key midweek meeting but if the youngster can step up to the mark, Conners hasn't ruled out giving her the chance to earn a Golden Slipper start.

"No I haven't. If she could win on Wednesday I would put her in one of the fillies' races and give her a chance to qualify for the Slipper," Conners said.

"She's a nice filly, she goes very well and she's trialled nicely."

Christmas was given two barrier trials in the spring before Conners tipped her out for a spell and she has again had a couple of hitouts leading into her first start.

She finished second to Misshiraz at her most recent trial on February 12 but will have to overcome barrier 14 on Wednesday.

The midweek race has attracted an interesting field headed by the Gai Waterhouse-trained Actrice who finished fifth as favourite to Gybe in the Gimcrack Stakes at her only appearance last spring.

It is also the starting point for well-bred filly Dove Lake from the Kris Lees stable.

Dove Lake is by 1995 Golden Slipper winner Flying Spur out of 2003 Oakleigh Plate victor River Dove and has won her only two trials to date.

M'Lady Pedrille, a half-sister to multiple stakeswinner Madame Pedrille, will also make her debut in the race for Ron Quinton.

Conners was hoping to have two runners in the race but Queen Commander was made fourth emergency.

She has been entered for the Group Two Silver Slipper Stakes (1100m) at Rosehill on Saturday but Conners will speak to her owners before deciding whether she will take her place.
