The aptly-named Belong To Many continues to please leading Canberra trainer Barbara Joseph who is expecting a tough battle for early supremacy in the Group Three Birthday Card Stakes at Rosehill.

Belong To Many scored an impressive all-the-way victory under 59 kilograms in the Listed Wenona Girl Handicap at Randwick on March 14 over Saturday's distance of 1200 metres.

Joseph doesn't believe Belong To Many, who will carry topweight of 59.5 kilograms, will be given the soft lead she was presented with last time out.

"There's a fair bit more speed in the race with horses like She's Meaner and I don't think they'll give it to us on a platter like at Randwick," Joseph said.

"But she doesn't necessarily have to lead, she can park just behind them from barrier nine."

Joseph believes Belong To Many has a huge advantage with regular jockey Grant Buckley in the saddle.

"They could sit back and let us lead or we could take the sit, it's going to be an interesting race and that's why having a rider who knows the horse so well puts us in a great position," Joseph said.

The multiple stakeswinner is owned by a syndicate of 800 managed by Shelley Hancox and Rod Peacock who will dissolve their partnership next month.

Belong To Many will have one more start for Joseph in the Group Two Sapphire Stakes, a race the mare won last year, before being sold at the Inglis Easter Broodmare Sale.

And while she is hopeful the new owners will keep the horse racing with her, Joseph is preparing to say goodbye to one of her stable favourites.

"It's going to be a sad day, she's been such a great horse to us," Joseph said.

"She's such a lovely mare and she's given so many people so much pleasure, it will be hard if we do have to part ways."
