For the first time in three years of taking Belong To Many to the races, Canberra trainer Barbara Joseph will be going home without her.
The consistent stakes performer is among the horses to be sold on Tuesday, the first day of the Sydney Easter broodmare sale.
But first she will defend her title in the Group Two Sapphire Stakes (1200m) at Randwick.
"Saturday will be a very emotional day but I think I will be even more emotional on Tuesday," Joseph said.
"I just hope I can get her back to train.
"I think she still has another year of racing in her and I would love to keep her going."
Belong To Many was named for the 800 people who took shares in the syndication of the filly on a three-year lease.
Right from the start she showed her ability with a win in a two-year-old maiden on debut at Goulburn on March 30, 2006.
Since then she has added another six wins and 11 placings from 25 starts and won prizemoney of more than $400,000, a significant return on her $20,000 purchase price.
Her sister fetched $200,000 at this year's Easter sale and Belong To Many's success has put her out of Joseph's price range.
Belong To Many has been in sparkling from in four starts this autumn with a first-up second to Hot Danish in the Breeders' Classic.
She then finished third to Neroli in the Millie Fox Stakes before winning the Wenona Girl.
In the Birthday Card Handicap on March 28 she carried 59.5 kilograms when second to Gamble Me who had six kilos less.
Neroli went on to beat Hot Danish in last Saturday's Group One Queen Of The Turf Stakes while Gamble Me runs in the upcoming Group One Galaxy.
Under the conditions of the Sapphire, Belong To Many carries 57 kilograms and not surprisingly, is the TAB Sportsbet favourite at $2.80 ahead of fellow topweight Judged.
Grant Buckley has been aboard Belong To Many throughout her autumn campaign and is a rider Joseph says suits the mare well.
"Grant knows her well and is the right sort of rider for her," Joseph said.
"You can't hit her with the whip, she does her best anyway.
"She just keeps trying."
