A cool change in the weather has lifted trainer Norm Hilton's confidence in Sydney-bound Bold Glance maintaining his winning momentum at Eagle Farm.

Bold Glance returns for the first time since his Magic Millions Cup victory at the Gold Coast last month in Saturday's Listed Falvelon Quality (1200m).

Hilton has nominated Bold Glance and stablemate Poor Judge for the Group One Doncaster Mile (1600m) at Randwick in April but won't confirm a trip away for either sprinter until after they clash in the Gold Coast Stakes (1200m) next month.

Hilton was relieved when the recent hot spell was broken by a fierce storm on Monday and wants to see the current cooler conditions prevail.

"I don't want it wet but he's appreciating this cooler change," Hilton said.

"It's normally quite hot when I bring him down from Toowoomba this time of the year so the cooler weather will help."

Hilton has always had a big opinion of Bold Glance who was his first black-type winner in the Listed Queensland Day Plate at Eagle Farm in April 2009.

"I've always had a high opinion of him and what he's done hasn't surprised me," he said.

"He's won every time I've set him a target.

"He did it last year in the (Listed) Ascot Handicap at Eagle Farm and did it again in the Magic Millions Cup."

Hilton has some reservations as to whether Bold Glance will gain a start in the Doncaster on April 16 and may need to rely on the five-year-old winning the Group One George Ryder Stakes (1500m) at Rosehill two weeks earlier.

Hilton is pleased with the progress Bold Glance has made since he returned to work following his Magic Millions Cup victory.

"I gave him a couple of weeks off after that and he's done really well since," he said.

"It's a good field he's lining up against on Saturday and there's a few chances."

Hilton named Essington as one to watch and he has great respect for old warrior The Jackal.

"The Jackal is always a worry in this type of race but his biggest problem looks to be his big weight (60.5kg)," Hilton said.

Hilton plans to set Bold Glance and Poor Judge for the Group One Stradbroke Handicap (1400m) at Eagle Farm in June following their autumn assignments.

Poor Judge hasn't raced since his victory in the Group Three Chatham Stakes (1400m) at Flemington in October and is set to resume at Eagle Farm on Saturday week.
