Tim Martin will find out in Saturday's Group Three Missile Stakes if taking Typhoon Zed to Grafton recently was a good move.

The trainer will launch a two-pronged attack on the 1100-metre Rosehill feature with talented mare Teasing and Group One winner Typhoon Zed.

Typhoon Zed comes into the race after running fifth to Borsha's Park over 1000 metres at Grafton on July 16 when he started the $1.60 favourite and carried 61kg.

The rising six-year-old has battled a series of niggling injuries and has not won since his triumph in the Group One Manikato Stakes at Flemington in September last year.

"He was in need of a run, even though he is a good fresh horse I thought he needed a hitout before the Missile," Martin said.

"If he wins on Saturday I'll know I did the right thing taking him up there, if he doesn't it might not have been such a good decision."

Typhoon Zed had a torrid run throughout at Grafton, jumping awkwardly and getting caught wide before tiring in the closing stages under his big weight to finish 1-1/2 lengths from the winner.

"I wish he had a quieter run but he pressed forward, got caught on a limb and when you're carrying that weight and you're four wide you are very vulnerable, so it was no surprise he got beaten but I still was disappointed he lost," Martin said.

"He's a broken-winded horse who has chronic feet problems but we've got him right at the moment and he'll run well."

The in-form Tye Angland has been booked to ride Typhoon Zed.

Teasing comes into the Missile after running fourth to Battlefield in the Listed Ramornie Handicap (1200m) at Grafton a day before Typhoon Zed raced.

Prior to that the rising seven-year-old won at Rosehill over Saturday's distance with Chris Munce aboard.

Munce is again booked to ride Teasing on Saturday.

"She's ticking over well, she just can't get the 1200 metres as she showed in the Ramornie where she died on her run," Martin said.

"This is a lot harder but she does like Rosehill and the trip suits and she can win."

The Rosehill surface was rated heavy on Tuesday by trackman Chris Toogood who expects the track to race in the slow range if Sydney's fine weather persists.
