The breeding barn will have to wait for lightly raced mare Teasing who has hit a career high with her first black-type win as a newly turned seven-year-old in the Missile Stakes at Rosehill.

She was the lesser fancied of trainer Tim Martin's two runners in the Group Three sprint at $19 with dual Group One winner Typhoon Zed the $5.50 second favourite behind Dreamscape at $2.80.

With Chris Munce riding hands and heels, Teasing defied the on-pace pattern of winners on Saturday to unleash a withering finish down the outside.

She claimed Gold Trail inside the 100 metres and went on to win by a length with Typhoon Zed another three-quarters of a length third.

"She has done so well and there was a lot of speed up front so I thought she would go well," Martin said.

"I know the kinds of sectionals she can reel off and I'm just rapt to see her win this race.

"She fractured her knee when she was being broken in and has had two operations but the owners have been very patient and she will keep on racing for another season.

"I have been training for these owners since 1988 so it is very special and I'm thrilled.

"I've had the whole family and my wife Melanie rode Teasing's mother to win at the picnics."

Teasing's mother Turned On won 12 races including that 1000m event at her penultimate start at Moree in May 1998.

So quick and so deceptive was Teasing's finishing burst, Gold Trail's trainer Gary Portelli was straightening his tie for the presentation, believing the trophy was his.

"I had the money spent at the furlong (200m)," he said.

"But all credit to the winner, she was just too good on the day."

Martin was happy with the performance of Typhoon Zed.

"He always runs an honest race and is always right there," he said.

"But he didn't have an answer for her finish."

Gai Waterhouse said the step back in distance from 1200 to 1100 metres had played against Dreamscape who finished seventh, 2-3/4 lengths from the winner.

The trainer's day was already marred by an injury to Amelia's Dream during an exhibition gallop.

The mare was making a comeback from a sesamoid injury suffered in her record-breaking win in the 2008 Silver Slipper.

Waterhouse said although the extent of the latest injury was not yet known, it appeared her career was over.
