A dead track is likely to thwart De Lightning Ridge's chances of setting another course record at Randwick on Saturday but trainer Joe Pride is confident she is primed for a Group One win in the Galaxy.

De Lightning Ridge scorched over the 1000 metres of the Challenge Stakes in 55.92s last month to eclipse Zephyr Bay's time of 56.2s set in 1975.

The Galaxy (1100m) will be De Lightning Ridge's biggest assignment against the likes of Group One-winning sprinters Gold Trail, Typhoon Zed and Rostova but her trainer says she is up to the task.

"She trialled good the other day and I'm very happy with her," Pride said.

"She's got no weight, she's on the limit with 52 (kilograms) with Blake Shinn to ride.

"I don't think conditions will be there on Saturday for her to be breaking any record but she's nice and fresh and ready to go."

Talented country sprinter Border Rebel will be missing from the line-up with trainer Sue Grills opting to save him to race first-up in Brisbane.

"He's not going to go to the Galaxy," she said.

"I just don't think he's fit enough to run a hard 1100 metres at Randwick first-up so I'll take him up to Eagle Farm on Saturday week for a Listed race over 1200.

"Randwick is a harder track than most and first-up from a spell in a Group One, I doubt whether his fitness is right for that.

"I really want him right for the Brisbane winter carnival.

"The Galaxy is a very hard race so we'll go for something a little bit easier."

Grills said the BTC Cup would be his likely winter carnival aim.

Dual Group One winner Typhoon Zed goes into the Galaxy off a third to rival Swift Alliance in the Group Three Sebring Stakes (1100m) after running sixth in the Challenge.

The Tim Martin-trained Typhoon Zed won the Galaxy in 2008.

Chris Waller will be represented by three-year-olds Shellscrape and Stryker.

Shellscrape was unplaced in last month's Newmarket Handicap at Flemington while Stryker ran third in the Challenge at his most recent start.
