Randwick trainer Les Bridge has predicted a much more forward run from Hot Danish in the Group Two Tristarc Stakes after she was caught out the back at her last start.

Bridge will order jockey Dan Nikolic to make his own luck from gate seven on the six-year-old mare and lead Saturday's star-studded field of mares over 1400m at Caulfield if necessary.

"He can just her ping her out and I don't care if he is up running second or third, or even leading," Bridge said.

"If there is no speed on she can go to the front."

Two weeks ago Hot Danish was expected to make it 12 wins from 19 starts in the Group Two Rose Of Kingston Stakes (1410m) at Flemington but from a wide gate she was among the backmarkers before rattling home to finish fifth to Cats Whisker.

"It was just one of those things that happened last start," Bridge said.

"She has always gone forward in her races and we wanted her to be four or five lengths off them turning for home last start but she was three times that, or twice that."

Bridge said the slow pace compounded her difficulty to make ground but she has pleased him with the way she has come on since the run.

"She is going good and will take some beating on Saturday," Bridge said.

Last spring in Melbourne Hot Danish won the Group Two Salinger Stakes down the straight at Flemington but on Saturday faces her nemesis Neroli who she is yet to beat home in two attempts.

Less than a length separated the pair when they ran the quinella in the Group One Queen Of The Turf Stakes in April while Neroli finished fourth, just in front of Hot Danish last start in the Rose Of Kingston.

Corporate bookmaker Betstar reported Hot Danish had been heavily backed to bounce back in the Tristarc, firming on Friday from $3.30 to $2.80 ahead of Typhoon Tracy ($3.80) and Neroli ($5.50).

Trainer Peter Snowden said Neroli, like most mares in the Tristarc, was being aimed at the Myer Classic (1600m) at Flemington on Derby Day.

"She has progressed well and her coat has come through this week," Snowden said.

"She looks much better to my eye."

Typhoon Tracy has been freshened since she finished eighth to Heart Of Dreams in the Underwood Stakes (1800m) which was her only unplaced run at Caulfield in three starts on her home track.

Notably she beat Neroli in the Group One Coolmore Classic at Rosehill in March as well as other Tristarc rivals Gold Water ($8.50) and Chinchilla Rose ($21).
