Brett Partelle celebrated his second feature Magic Millions win this year when local galloper Torio's Quest scored in a thrilling finish at Wyong on Sunday.

Torio's Quest stuck his head out at the right time to win the $100,000 Magic Millions Wyong 3YO Stakes (1200m) by a nose over Top Drop with only a half neck to Biggietupac in third.

Earlier this year Wyong-based Partelle took out the Magic Millions Cup at the Gold Coast with Walking Or Dancing.

Torio's Quest was coming off a class one win at Newcastle at his most recent start and is now headed to the $1 million Magic Millions Guineas (1400m) on January 15 after recording his third win from just four outings.

"I'm over the moon, I can't put it into better words than that," Partelle said.

"Not many trainers win two Magic Millions races in one year."

Queenslander Flying Minstrel was sent out the $2.30 favourite on the back of an unbeaten record after two starts in his home state.

The colt travelled on the speed but weakened noticeably coming to the home turn and finished tailed off.

Racing NSW stewards reported that Flying Minstrel bled from one nostril and has been ordered to trial to the satisfaction of stewards before racing again.

"He was travelling really well to the 600 metres and then he just started to die underneath me," jockey Glyn Schofield said.

"I hope it's only a small hiccup because I think he could be a top class horse."

Partelle has a big opinion of Torio's Quest and said he would let the dust settle before determining whether he has another start before the Gold Coast race.

Hugh Bowman said the fast tempo up front didn't really suit Torio's Quest which added plenty of merit to the gelding's winning performance.

"It was a very strong pace and he was running at his top for most of the way," Bowman said.

"Not many horses can find after doing that so it was a good effort.

"The step up to 1400 metres is going to suit him and I just loved the way he stuck his head out when he needed to."

Honest three-year-old Top Drop challenged strongly over the concluding stages but had to settle for second for the fifth time in just 10 race starts.

Trainer Gerald Ryan is likely to start Top Drop again on Boxing Day in either Brisbane or Sydney before the Magic Millions Guineas.

"He's an honest little fella and tries really hard," Ryan said.

"He needed the run today."
