Peter Moody's declaration that Kulgrinda was a Group One mare was only topped by Luke Nolen describing her as a "superstar" after her stunning win in the Listed Printhouse Graphics Stakes at Moonee Valley.

The four-year-old daughter of Exceed And Excel earned the rave reviews after she started odds-on at $1.70 in the 1000-metre sprint and left her rivals in her wake, dashing away to her fourth win in six starts.

Nolen bounced back from a blast from Peter Moody after his ride on fifth-placed Huegill in the McKenzie Stakes with the easiest of rides on Kulgrinda who scored untested by 2-1/2 lengths from Happy Angel with another 3-1/2 lengths to Morgan Dollar.

Kulgrinda was considered the best of Moody's juveniles in her two-year-old season and with maturity is now delivering on her promise.

Moody said he blamed himself for Kulgrinda not being unbeaten and is excited about what she might achieve in the spring.

"We just had to wait for her to mature up," Moody said.

"But for probably a little bit of impatience where I pushed on too far into her first preparation she would have been undefeated."

He said her next start would be the Group Three McEwen Stakes (1000m) at Moonee Valley on September 10 and then the Group One Manikato Stakes (1200m) at the Valley on September 30.

"She is a Group One horse and you've got to go to Group one races," Moody said as he outlined the ambitious plan.

"She is on the road to a very good spring."

Nolen watched Linda Meech easily win on Kulgrinda first-up in last month's Lightning Stakes (1050m) in Adelaide and couldn't wait to get back on the mare at the Valley.

"She is a superstar," Nolen said.

"In her two-year-old year she was probably the pick of ours but with her (lack of) maturity she never got there.

"It is very early spring and you can't get carried away but she was impressive in Adelaide and I thought she was equally impressive today."

Definitely Ready, who led the field, compounded in the straight to finish last and pulled up with respiratory distress and an abnormal lung sound.
