CHAMPION colt Sepoy will face off against a Peter Moody runner in next month's group 1 Manikato Stakes, but while it may not be Black Caviar that he has to duel with, he will have to meet Moody's rising star Kulgrinda, who thrashed her rivals at Moonee Valley yesterday, reports the Sunday Age.

It says: Moody said the three-year-old Exceed And Excel filly, who was backed heavily from $1.90 to start at $1.75 before running clear to win by 2¢ lengths, was capable of stepping from yesterday's listed sprint to group 1 level in six weeks.

''She's a group 1 horse,'' Moody declared. ''I think she's on the road to a very good spring.''

Jockey Luke Nolen warned that he did not want to ''get in front of myself'' but said he thought Kulgrinda was ''a superstar'' after she ran away from her more seasoned rivals to win her fourth race from six starts. ''She showed us plenty last time in but she's come back so much stronger and has furnished into a very good sprinter.''
