The Doncaster Handicap will become a realistic target for consistent gelding Kenny's World if he can prove there are more strings to his bow than just sprinting.

The last start Southern Cross Stakes winner is set to line up in the Group Three Liverpool City Cup (1300m) at Warwick Farm on Saturday with the winner exempt from a Doncaster ballot.

Kenny's World is yet to be tried beyond 1350 metres but trainer Graeme Murray is confident his charge will get further and possibly even extend to the 1600 metres of the Doncaster.

"We thought he could get a bit further and the Doncaster nominations were closing so we thought we would nominate him and if he happened to make the field he might be a lightweight chance," Murray said.

"We'll probably try to ride him a bit quieter but the way he has been getting to the line in his races, in the right type of race I think he would get a mile.

"Whether that's in the Doncaster I don't know.

"But while he is racing well we'll keep poking around in these races and if he gets there, he gets there."

Kenny's World began his current preparation in October but it has been peppered by short breaks at the south coast property owned by Murray's father and fellow trainer Bede.

The gelding, who will be ridden by Jim Cassidy, will have the advantage of race fitness over most of his rivals on Saturday with 18 of the 24 nominations either resuming or having just their second starts back from spells.

They include Group One winners Allez Wonder, Miss Marielle, Neroli, Mr Baritone and Triple Honour in what is shaping up to be a highly competitive field.

Of the 24 entries, 19 are still in the mix for the Doncaster run at Randwick on April 17.
