Jeff Lloyd has officially been cleared to resume riding at Randwick this week.

Concussed and hospitalised after a race fall in which Blake Shinn and Peter Robl were also injured, Lloyd said he would ride trackwork before making his return to racing on Thursday.

"I had a scan on my brain this morning and the results have come back clear," Lloyd said.

"Obviously I have been keen to get back as quickly as I can but with any head trauma you have to be careful.

"I think head injuries are more worrying than having a broken bone so naturally I'm pretty relieved to get the all-clear."

Lloyd is expected to return with as many as six Randwick rides, including four mounts for trainer David Payne.

"I'll probably ride a couple in trackwork on Tuesday at Rosehill and again on Wednesday to get some touch back," Lloyd said.

His bookings include Payne's runners in the two feature races - the Carrington Stakes and the Tattersall's Club Cup.

He will link with Hairy when the mare resumes from a short spell in the Carrington Stakes (1000m).

Lloyd was in the saddle when Hairy won the Group Three Sheraco Stakes at Rosehill at just her second start for Payne.

He will also be reunited with lightly raced staying prospect Kettledrum in the Tattersall's Club Cup.

Kettledrum was scratched from last week's Summer Cup to be saved for Thursday's race.

Lloyd said he expected the four-year-old to be close to peak form after two encouraging runs.

"He's a horse who has always given the impression he is capable of winning a decent race," Lloyd said.

While Lloyd prepares for his comeback, Shinn and Robl remain sidelined.

Robl has fractured vertebra while Shinn suffered a broken wrist and they aren't expected to ride for another month.

Hugh Bowman was found guilty of causing the fall and his appeal against the severity of a 27-meeting suspension will be heard next week.
