Jeff Lloyd literally cannot remember the last time he was on Montelimar's back but has seen the video of how he came off it.

Montelimar was one of three horses to come down in a race at Rosehill on December 10 with Lloyd and fellow jockeys Peter Robl and Blake Shinn all injured.

Lloyd was heavily concussed and bruised but will be the first of the three to make a comeback when he rides at Randwick on Thursday with his commitments to begin with Montelimar in the third race.

Trainer David Payne said the filly had come through the ordeal with no obvious ill effects.

"She had a few bruises but not as many as Jeff," Payne said.

"He did point out to me that I was putting him on her as his first ride back.

"I told him that he didn't remember the fall so it shouldn't be a problem.

"But seriously, I admire him for wanting to come back after a fall like that.

"He isn't getting any younger."

Lloyd, who is in his mid-forties, was a multiple champion in his native South Africa and he and brother-in-law, jockey Glyn Schofield, have made a significant impact since relocating to Sydney a year ago.

Lloyd's biggest triumph in Australia so far came aboard Nom Du Jeu in the AJC Australian Derby last autumn and he also partnered that horse to second in the Caulfield Cup won by All The Good.

While Lloyd was cleared to ride after undergoing scans at the weekend, Robl and Shinn were not so lucky.

Robl is likely to remain in a neck brace for another six weeks after fracturing a vertebra while Shinn has another few weeks recuperation from a broken wrist.
