Jeff Lloyd has been forced to delay his comeback after suffering a minor setback at trackwork.
The multiple South African premier jockey has not ridden in a race since he was heavily concussed in a shocking three-horse pile-up at Rosehill on December 10.
He was scheduled to ride the David Payne-trained Kettledrum in the Group Three Summer Cup (2400m) at Randwick on Friday but is now expected to return at the New Year's Day meeting at the same venue.
Lloyd's manager Bryan Haskins said the hoop was out of sorts after riding trackwork at Randwick on Tuesday.
"He rode a bit of work but said he was feeling a little light-headed after it, so he's made the decision to not ride this week," Haskins said.
"It's a minor setback, he just wants to give it another week and he'll be right for Randwick on Thursday."
Lloyd was one of four jockeys who fell at Rosehill on December 10.
Kathy O'Hara, who fell in a different race that day, has picked up the ride on Kettledrum who is a $17 chance.
"The horse is going along nicely, so it's a nice ride for Kathy," Payne said.
O'Hara capped a remarkable comeback from the fall when she returned to Rosehill three days later to boot Predominance to victory.
Amazingly, the win came just a day after O'Hara was forced to cut short trackwork at Randwick because she was in so much pain with her left shoulder.
The three-horse fall one race after O'Hara fell resulted in her boyfriend Blake Shinn suffering a fractured wrist that has ruled him out for six weeks while Peter Robl fractured a vertebra in his neck that will keep him sidelined him for eight weeks.
Hugh Bowman was suspended over the fall until February 12 and will have an appeal against the severity of the penalty heard on January 5.
