Snitzel wasn't able to win a Golden Slipper for Gerald Ryan but the Rosehill trainer is hoping the stallion's son Intertidal can do what his sire could not.

The dual city winner is back in work and being prepared for a first-up tilt at the Kindergarten Stakes at Warwick Farm on March 6.

While Magic Millions winner Military Rose, John O'Shea-trained filly Solar Charged and the unbeaten Chance Bye are among the hopefuls at the forefront of most Slipper discussions, Ryan believes Intertidal's claims have been largely overlooked.

"I think he's the forgotten horse," Ryan said.

"He's had three starts and run second and then won his next two so he's under no pressure, he should have enough prizemoney to get into the Slipper.

"He had those three runs, then a seven-week spell, so he will have had a nice preparation.

"He's the one that's been there and done it and has got the runs on the board.

"He's a tough horse and I reckon he is better ridden back in the field."

Intertidal was runner-up to Lohan on a slow track at his debut in October and won his subsequent starts on firm ground, both at the Golden Slipper venue of Rosehill.

Ryan said he had furnished nicely during his break and would have two starts prior to the $3.5 million Golden Slipper (1200m) on April 3.

"He'll run in the Kindergarten, then the Todman and then the Slipper, all being well," Ryan said.

Unplaced as favourite in the 2005 Golden Slipper won by Stratum, Snitzel has made a sparkling start to his career at stud and Intertidal is one of several youngsters who have helped propel him to the top of the first season sires' table.

As well as having several of his former star's progeny, Ryan trains a three-quarter brother to the 2006 Oakleigh Plate winner named Hinchinbrook.

By Fastnet Rock, Hinchinbrook won a barrier trial at Rosehill on Tuesday and is set to kick off his career in the Canonbury Stakes (1100m) at Randwick on Saturday.

"He's a nice, big strong horse. He's different to Snitzel, he's not as precocious as Snitzel," Ryan said.

"But he's got a great attitude, he's very laid-back which is typical of the Fastnet Rocks.

"He's in there (Golden Slipper) but I'm not sure he'll go that far this time in, he will be a better three-year-old."

Talented colts Rothesay and Hus Der Lieften are also back in work although Rothesay is likely to have just one start in Sydney during the carnival before heading to Brisbane for the Queensland Guineas.

Hus Der Lieften is on track to resume in the Fireball Quality at the end of the month and will be restricted to sprints.
