Peter Morgan is confident I Am Invincible can move a step closer to connections' long-range plans by winning his fourth race from his last five starts in Saturday's Group Three Bletchingly Stakes at Caulfield.

The exciting sprinter gave away a two-length start when he missed the kick first-up in the Monash Stakes (1100m) at Caulfield on July 18.

However he quickly made up the lost ground and settled in front before holding on to beat the fast-finishing Gran Sasso by a half-head.

"He's done well and he'll be hard to beat on Saturday," Morgan said.

"He'll jump out and run."

Morgan said I Am Invincible only missed the start because jockey Darren Gauci had a barrier attendant up to steady him.

"He's had 11 starts and hasn't had any problems apart from last start when he was just a bit fresh and moving his head around," the trainer said.

"When they are being held they think `do I go or not' and he's a quiet horse."

Morgan, who is renowned for rehabilitating horses with leg and feet problems with his water-walker and swimming pool at his Whittlesea base, got the Invincible Spirit entire to train after he worked with the horse's foot problems for his previous trainer John Hawkes.

I Am Invincible has won three of his five starts for Morgan including two from two at Caulfield, a win in the Group Three RN Irwin Stakes (1100m) at Morphettville and a second to champion Takeover Target in the Group One The Goodwood (1200m) at the same track.

Morgan took I Am Invincible to Caulfield for a gallop wide out on the course proper on Tuesday morning and was pleased with the way he went on what he said was heavy going.

The track has since improved to be rated a dead (5) on Thursday.

Morgan rated the Mick Price-trained Bel Mer, winner of the Group One Robert Sangster Stakes (1200m) at Morphettville in April, as the main threat.

"Bel Mer has a good turn of foot and she might be the hard one to beat," he said.

Both sprinters are on trial for a start in the Group One Manikato Stakes (1200m) at Moonee Valley on September 25.

The Manikato winner gains an invitation to run in the Breeders' Cup Turf Sprint (1300m) in the US in November.

Other options for I Am Invincible are the Hong Kong Sprint (1200m) in December and Royal Ascot's big sprints next year.

His owners have also fielded offers for I Am Invincible to stand at stud in England next year, the four-year-old being by the same sire as this year's July Cup winner Fleeting Spirit.

I Am Invincible is $2.30 favourite for the 1200m Bletchingly ahead of Bel Mer at $3.30, Orange County ($5.50), Mr Baritone ($11) with Maxisun next best at $12.
