Les Bridge has won some of the biggest races on the Australian calendar but none has given him more satisfaction than Saturday's Group One All-Aged Stakes triumph by his beloved mare Hot Danish.

"I've won the Melbourne Cup and the Golden Slipper and I would say this gives me as much satisfaction as those ones," Bridge said.

"This mare has run in about six Group One races on heavy tracks and she just can't accelerate on them.

"That's the real Hot Danish today."

One of the most popular horses in training, the six-year-old had won 12 of her 23 starts prior to Saturday's 1400m feature but a Group One victory had eluded her.

It looked as though she might have to settle for another placing when Melito challenged her in the straight but the bonny Hot Danish pulled out all stops, much to the delight of the big Sydney Cup day crowd who cheered her as one.

Tim Clark has been the mare's regular rider throughout her career and paid tribute to his favourite horse following her All-Aged win.

"I got a bit emotional after I pulled up on her, that's how much she means to me," said Clark who won his first Group One aboard Typhoon Zed in the 2008 The Galaxy.

"I got to the furlong (200m) before I asked her to go, she showed a good turn of foot and was far too strong.

"I always thought she'd be my first Group One winner, it just took a little while.

"She's definitely a favourite horse of mine. She's a Group One mare, she really deserved that."

It was a big day for Clark and his flatmate, fellow jockey Josh Parr, who celebrated his first Group One win earlier in the day when he claimed the Champagne Stakes aboard Skilled.

The pair are good friends and after next Sunday will be brothers-in-law with Clark set to marry Parr's sister Jayde.

Hot Danish scored by a length and exacted revenge on the Gerald Ryan-trained Melito who downed her in the TJ Smith Stakes last start.

The runner-up will now head to Brisbane where the Doomben 10,000 is among her goals.

"It took the best mare in Sydney to beat her," Ryan said.

"It proved two weeks ago was no fluke. She probably won't run again until the 10,000."

Peter Snowden was also rapt with the effort of third placegetter Beaded who was stepping out in Group One company for the first time.

"She ran really well and that's what you expect from her. She's one hundred per cent racehorse," Snowden said.

But the afternoon belonged to Hot Danish who returned to the mounting yard to the applause of the crowd.

One racegoer in the stands summed the mood up perfectly: "We love the Danish".
