Now that Glowlamp has shed the unwanted tag as Australia's best maiden, trainer Clarry Conners is confident she can build on her winning record in Saturday's Research Stakes at Rosehill.

Glowlamp claimed her first win at her 19th start when she dominated the finish of an 1100m maiden at Randwick on August 25, her first outing as a four-year-old.

"Winning that race was good for her confidence and good for her trainer's confidence," Conners said.

Her first two seasons proved frustrating for Conners with a string of big-race minor placings beside her name including a third to Samantha Miss in the Group One Champagne Stakes.

She then spent the spring of her three-year-old year chasing Samantha Miss in most of the fillies races.

After her sixth in the Victorian Oaks, Conners aimed her autumn at the AJC Australian Oaks but she found the going tough.

He has reassessed Glowlamp and will target her at sprints this time around but she won't have an easy assignment in Saturday's Group Three 1200m event with Hot Danish, Absolutelyfabulous, Fritz's Princess and Alverta among the nominations.

"She will be kept to sprints this spring and I think the key to her is keeping her fresh," Conners said.

"The plan is the Research then the Nivison. I want to keep her to the mares races and make it as easy as I can for her.

"There are some nice races in Melbourne towards the end of the carnival as well."

The Kris Lees-trained Absolutelyfabulous is also among the 18 entries for the Group Two Theo Marks Stakes (1400m) which are headed by Racing To Win.

The multiple Group One winner finished fourth in the Warwick Stakes won by Trusting at his first start since his second to Scenic Shot in the Doomben Cup.

Mentality is nominated for both the Theo Marks and the Dato Tan Chin Nam Stakes at Moonee Valley.

Sydney Cup placegetter Mr Tipsy is one of 12 entries for the Kingston Town Stakes (2000m).

The New Zealander will arrive in Sydney this week to step up his campaign towards the Metropolitan Handicap (2400m) on October 3.

Trained by Murray and Bjorn Baker, Mr Tipsy is an $81 chance with TAB Sportsbet for the Melbourne Cup as is stablemate Harris Tweed.

The Research Stakes is named after the champion Conners-trained filly who was the last of her sex to win the AJC Australian Derby which she accomplished in 1989.
