Glowlamp has lost the tag of Australia's best maiden after she broke through for a commanding victory on the Kensington track at Randwick.

Four-time Golden Slipper-winning trainer Clarry Conners was thrilled with the win from the Encosta De Lago mare who had won more than $250,000 going into her 19th start, the Intergaze Maiden Plate (1100m) on Tuesday.

"This is a like a Slipper," Conners said.

"It's very satisfying, she hasn't had a lot of luck and has run into some outstanding horses."

Ridden by Nash Rawiller, Glowlamp started the $2.25 favourite and travelled in second place for most of the trip before hitting the lead shortly after straightening.

She kicked strongly and had too much class for her opposition, going on to defeat Schlager by 2-3/4 lengths.

"We might keep her to the sprint distances this time in," Conners said.

"We tried her in the Oaks in Melbourne and Sydney but as the races got further I think she got worse, so we might change that this time in."

Glowlamp has finished in the minor placings in eight stakes races, two of those at Group One level behind Samantha Miss and Sebring in the Champagne Stakes as a two-year-old and in Gallica's Thousand Guineas last spring.

A decent betting plunge was landed in the Brave Prince Maiden Plate (1300m) when the Graeme Rogerson-trained Bandar defeated Purdey from the Peter Snowden yard.

More Than Ready colt Bandar was backed from $3 to start $2.15 favourite, taking over from Purdey who drifted from $1.90 to $2.25.

Rogerson's foreman Roger Elliott was pleased with the performance from Bandar who was having his fourth start.

Bandar is nominated for the Caulfield Guineas (1600m) in October and is a $51 chance on TAB Sportsbet fixed odds for the Group One race.

"He was $301 the other day," Elliott said.

Trainer Chris Waller continued his good form with apprentice Mitchell Beadman steering $31 outsider Kossack to victory in the Might And Power Handicap (1550m).

The win gave Waller a race-to-race double after the breakthrough win from the Ingham family-owned, $1.5 million yearling purchase Little Surfer Girl in the Soho Square Handicap (1400m).

Little Surfer Girl was having her fourth start and a relieved Waller said he would like to aim the filly towards the Group One Flight Stakes (1600m) in October.

Queensland apprentice Michael Palmer, who is on a three-month loan to Rosehill trainer Con Karakatsanis, continued his successful stint in the Sydney ranks with a win aboard the David Payne-trained Madibagold in the final race ,the Juggler Handicap (1400m).

It was the 19-year-old's second Sydney winner for Payne after the pair combined with Disco Dancer at Randwick 10 days ago.

Madibagold landed a huge betting plunge after he was crunched from $5.50 in to $3.80 favouritism.
