The past few months have been a blur for Toowoomba trainer Rex Lipp as he looks to get Dual Chamber's campaign back on track.

Lipp is confident Dual Chamber will secure a start from second emergency in Saturday's Ambassador Travel Handicap (1200m) at Eagle Farm after rain and injury resulted in the mare spending most of her time stabled at home in recent weeks.

Dual Chamber was originally set to make her comeback in a Listed race at Eagle Farm in November but it was delayed by the deluge of rain which forced a number of abandonments in southeast Queensland.

The four-year-old had three barrier trials on her home track before making her long-awaited return with a fast-finishing second to Miss Imagica in a $100,000 fillies and mares Quality (1200m) at Toowoomba on December 23.

It was her first appearance since finishing fifth to Fifteen Carat in the Listed Sunshine Coast Guineas (1600m) at Caloundra in July.

"It was a good run but the winner is a track specialist," Lipp said of her first-up run.

"She was near last with the winner on the home turn and while my mare was looking to get out Miss Imagica got a break on her."

Dual Chamber, a daughter of Show A Heart, was also a late withdrawal when she suffered minor abrasions after hitting the fence going to the barriers last month.

Like his fellow Toowoomba trainers, Lipp has felt the agony of the inland tsunami which swept through his home town this month.

"It's all been a blur with what's happened here in Toowoomba and with the rain and tragedy we've had to suffer," Lipp said.

"Dual Chamber has had a disrupted campaign, that's for sure.

"She hasn't raced for a month since she put her foot through a fence and cut it going to the barrier."

Lipp has been sweating on a start for Dual Chamber and was relieved when Newcastle trainer Kris Lees decided against a trip north with Motspur who will start at Rosehill.

Trainer Barry Baldwin is also unlikely to start Burdekin Blues if the current heavy (8) rating prevails.

"I'm pretty confident she'll get a start now and if she does she'll run well," Lipp said.

"She handles the wet so the track won't worry her."

Lipp has long-range plans to target fillies and mares races during the Brisbane winter carnival with Dual Chamber.

However, in the short term he's considering backing her up under lights in the Listed Sunshine Coast Cup (1400m) at Caloundra next Friday night.

"If she runs well tomorrow I might back her up at Caloundra on Friday night," he said.
