Trainer Rex Lipp will be looking for an early winter carnival guide from Express Air and her new stablemate Dual Chamber at Doomben.

They are both on the comeback trail and will clash in Saturday's Listed Bright Shadow Quality (1200m)

Dual Chamber, a Jason Holder mount, was formerly trained by Maryann Thexton at the Gold Coast before joining Lipp's stables in Toowoomba following her last-start 11th to Graceful Anna in the Group Three Vo Rogue Plate (1350m) at Doomben on Boxing Day.

Glen Colless will ride Express Air for the first time following her last-start third to Honour Happy List at her first middle-distance attempt over 2100 metres at Eagle Farm on January 16.

Lipp is no closer to knowing whether Express Air is capable of running a strong middle distance with the major winter staying races just around the corner.

"She did a good job to run third but it wasn't a strong race and we're not sure if she can stick on," Lipp said.

"If she can stay we'd probably give her a chance at the Doomben Cup and some of the other longer races in the winter otherwise if she's purely a sprinter we'll look at the Stradbroke and Winter Stakes."

The Group One Doomben Cup (2020m) at weight-for-age will be run on May 22 while the Group One Stradbroke Handicap (1400m) and Group One Winter Stakes (1400m) will be run at Eagle Farm in June.

Lipp is hopeful both runners will perform well first-up after recent barrier trials on their home tracks.

Express Air has trialled twice on the cushion track in Toowoomba while Dual Chamber has also trialled twice including an easy win on April 1.

"Dual Chamber is having her first run for me and it's been a while since she started," Lipp said.

"She's been doing everything right since she come into the stable and I'd like to think she could measure up to the Queensland Guineas."

The Group Two Queensland Guineas (1600m) will be run on Stradbroke day, June 12.

Dual Chamber was a star two-year-old last season finishing second to Kiss Me Katy in the Listed Douglas Wadley (1200m) at Eagle Farm in June and her record of just two wins from nine starts could easily be better.

Meanwhile, Lipp also will pay close attention to the comeback of Seconde who ends a brief retirement to the breeding barn in the Glenlogan Park Handicap 1350m).

Seconde lost her first foal during the spring after being retired following her last-start fifth over 1300 metres at Toowoomba in July.

"Unfortunately Seconde lost a foal to Real Saga at Glenlogan Park Stud so the decision was made to bring her back to the track," Lipp said.

"She goes well fresh and her two barrier trials have been excellent."

Lipp has no immediate plans with Seconde who is a five-time winner from 33 starts.
