Trainer Maryann Thexton will head to Eagle Farm on Saturday with one eye firmly focused on next month's Magic Millions Classic at the Gold Coast and the other on next year's Brisbane winter carnival.

Thexton will saddle up her two impressive juveniles, Fast Lover in the Meynink Stakes (1000m) and Dual Chamber in the McDougall Stakes (1000m).

Both youngsters hold strong claims in the Listed events but it will be Fast Lover who will take centre stage with the $2 million Magic Millions Classic (1200m) less than a month away.

Fast Lover is yet to win in three starts and with only $7,000 in the bank is 20th in the order of entry for the Gold Coast feature.

Fast Lover started from the outside in a field of 13 last start and produced an eye-catching performance to flash home for fourth to Racing Pegasus over 1110 metres at Doomben last Saturday.

He was beaten less than two lengths and Thexton believes Fast Lover has made considerable improvement since.

"We were between a rock and a hard place with the barrier last time," Thexton said.

"We planned to take a risk and go forward on him but that didn't happen.

"I didn't want him to flop out the back of the field like he's done before."

Fast Lover has drawn barrier four for Saturday's feature and Thexton believes it and the roomier Eagle Farm track will be in his favour.

"The better gate is the key this time and although it's a shorter trip, the 1000 metres at Eagle Farm is less deadly than 1110 metres at Doomben," she said.

Thexton's confidence has also lifted following a perfect blood count taken from the son of Iglesia.

"I've noticed a big change in his attitude since his last run and I've been monitoring his weight and his blood is perfect," she said.

Stablemate Dual Chamber isn't eligible for the Magic Millions Classic and is likely to spell shortly to prepare for next year's Brisbane winter carnival.

Dual Chamber made a big impression to score at her second start over 1000 metres at Eagle Farm last month.

The daughter of Show A Heart faces a daunting task to topple early Magic Millions Classic favourite Paprika but Thexton isn't throwing in the towel.

"I take some heart that she's still improving and she did a good job to run down Fairchild and win last time," she said.

"She'll get back from her wide barrier (10) and will be hitting the line strongly.

"It's just a matter of whether Paprika gets a soft lead."
