Trainer Kim Craft is hoping Lucky Dubai, a mare won in a raffle by her owners, can maintain her excellent strike rate at Eagle Farm on Wednesday.

Lucky Dubai will be lining up for her third win from five starts at the track in the Samios Tradies Classic 2010 Handicap (1600m).

The four-year-old scored a commanding 1200-metre win in class three company at Eagle Farm last month before finishing an unlucky third in class four grade over 1300m at Caloundra nine days ago.

"She's won over 1600 metres before and she handles the trip on her ear," Craft said.

"We thought she was very unlucky at Caloundra last start when she got held up going for a run.

"She gave away eight lengths at the 250 metres and went down by less than two lengths."

Craft and retired part-owner Greg Needham are having a lot of fun with the daughter of Dubai Destination.

Lucky Dubai was the first prize in a raffle won by Needham at the Wellington Boot meeting in central western NSW three years ago.

Needham had been a regular visitor to the Wellington Boot meeting for a number of years and bought tickets every year in the major raffle conducted on the day.

"I've been buying tickets in raffles for a number of years at the Wellington Boot but I couldn't get there the year I won her," Needham said.

"But I still bought some tickets that year and I ended up winning the raffle and named her Lucky Dubai.

"It costs $250 for a book of tickets so she's turned out to be a cheap proposition."

Lucky Dubai has now won four of her 15 starts which have also yielded three placings for prizemoney of $37,500.

Craft is the daughter of former Wyong trainer Colin Harwood who prepared several horses part-owned by Needham.

Needham raced more than a dozen horses with Harwood including former useful gallopers Thrifty Reserve and Magic Road.

Thrifty Reserve won 18 times, including the Group Three Gosford Cup in 1994, in an 82-start career while Magic Road's best victories were in the Group Three Newmarket Handicap at Newcastle and Group Three Hawkesbury Cup in 1996.

Kraft came to Queensland in unfortunate circumstances a few years ago but has no regrets.

"We got flooded out at Wyong when the big flood came a few years ago and then we were stranded here at Caloundra during EI (equine influenza) and had to stay for a while," she said.

"We liked it so much we decided to stay permanently."
