PETER Moody believes stablemates Thermal Current and Dissident have the credentials to upset the favored runners in Saturday’s Golden Rose at Rosehill. Moody said both colts went into the $1 million race at the top of their game and would only need a sliver of luck to feature prominently, reports Racing Network.

Thermal Current worked with High Esteem over 1000 metres the Sydney way at Caulfield today, similar work to what he did at the same track last Saturday.

“He worked super here this morning,” enthused Moody.

“It’s no small task, but the colt is going well, he’s continually improved throughout the prep and he’s cleaned up in the coat.”

Moody noted that Thermal Current suffered a check near the 200 metre mark in the McNeil Stakes won by Fast ‘N’ Rocking at Caulfield on August 31.

He said what pleased him is that Thermal Current regrouped then rallied and went to the line strongly.

“The confidence I take in taking those colts on is that I think my bloke is bomb proof. If he draws a gate he will put himself into the race and make his own luck,” Moody said.

Moody said he received a most positive report about how Dissident, runner-up behind Va Pensiero in the Run To The Rose at Rosehill on August 13, worked today at Randwick.

“He’s arguably been unlucky his two runs in Sydney. He’s a horse that continues to improve and I think he’s in the race up to his ears.

“Luck plays a big part in these races, but I’m very pleased with my two colts going into the race.”
