A wide barrier won't prevent Magic Millions Guineas hopeful Spirit Of Boom from starting in the Listed Gold Edition Plate at Eagle Farm in preference to a rushed trip to Sydney.

Gollan also accepted with Spirit Of Boom for the seven-horse field in the Slipper On Sale Handicap (1200m) at Rosehill on Saturday.

The son of Sequalo drew 21 - the outside barrier - in the 1200-metre feature in Brisbane.

"I'm shattered he's drawn so badly at Eagle Farm and there's no doubt he was a better chance in Sydney but it's in the best interest of the horse to stay at home," Gollan said.

Gollan still has concerns with the weather in Brisbane and doesn't want a repeat of last week when the Eagle Farm meeting was abandoned after only two races.

"I've been getting different opinions all week what's going to occur with the weather in Brisbane and I'm chancing my arm a bit by staying home," Gollan said.

"My biggest concern was missing a run if the Eagle Farm meeting was cancelled again so I accepted with him in Sydney in case.

"It's not ideal to take him to Sydney and then bring him straight back home so close to the Magic Millions."

Spirit Of Boom is on the comeback trail after a minor respiratory problem was discovered following his 11th to Blackball in the Group Three Up And Coming Stakes (1200m) at Warwick Farm on August 21.

He finished a game fourth to Obsequious in the Group Three San Domenico Stakes (1000m) at Randwick a fortnight earlier.

"He ran a good race in the San Domenico but we found he had a respiratory problem following his last run," Gollan said.

Spirit Of Boom made a quick recovery after only three weeks in the paddock before Gollan brought him back into work.

"He's been in work a long time and has had a trial when he ran third behind Bold Glance at Doomben last month," he said.

Gollan also has nominated Spirit Of Boom for a class five at Eagle Farm next Wednesday as a precaution should rain threaten Saturday's meeting.

"His entire preparation is being geared towards the Magic Millions (Guineas) next month and we can't afford to miss a run with him before then," he said.

"The biggest worry is the weather but I prefer to stay at home as our tracks have stood up well so far.

"But I'm worried if we get a lot of rain they might be off again."

Eagle Farm was rated in the slow range on Thursday but the weather forecasts are for more rain on Friday and Saturday.

Spirit Of Boom has never raced on a heavy track in his eight start career but has been successful twice from three attempts on slow tracks.
