The benefits of an inside draw on the "C" course should guide the Tony Cruz-trained Multivictoryto the Sauternes Cup winner's photo after the three-year-old's first Happy Valley race experience tonight, reports HK Racing Post.

After a smart winning debut up the Sha Tin straight, Multivictory (Alvin Ng Ka-chun) looked a touch one-paced second time at that trip and Cruz wisely stepped him up to 1,200m last start on the all-weather, where he finished second, even though not a great deal went right.

Slowly away, Multivictory was fortunate he was able to follow eventual winner Slick Bullet through to a forward position, but then got stuck off the course three wide when runners came down from wider out to cross him.

In fairness, on the muddy dirt track that day racing wide didn't look a big disadvantage, and being close in the run seemed more important in the context of the race, with first, second, third and fourth placegetters all wide but handy.

Multivictory found Slick Bullet too strong, perhaps too seasoned in the run home, but that run over 1,200m will do him good, as will the experience of having to tough out a finish, and tonight looks the night.

Ng takes over from Matthew Chadwick, but has been gifted the right draw in barrier two, which should see him box seated behind committed leaders Tomodachi and Precision King.
