More Than Great will be set for the million dollar Golden Rose after an outstanding win in the Sydney City Toyota Handicap (1200m) at Rosehill on Saturday. A youngster by red hot juvenile sire More Than Ready, More Than Great settled off the speed in the Sydney two-year-old event before coming with a brilliant burst in the straight to swamp his rivals and win in great style.

Top Sydney rider Nash Rawiller, who rode the exciting youngster to victory, predicted a bright future for the $70,000 Magic Millions Yearling Sale buy. "He's a serious horse," Rawiller pointed out. "Hopefully he'll have a couple of weeks to freshen up and David can get him ready for some of the better races."

Rawiller said everything went to plan during the race for he and More Than Great. "We were able to get a lovely run and he was always travelling like the winner," Rawiller added. At the line More Than Great ($2.25-$2.80 fav) held a length and a quarter margin over the Nathan Tinkler owned Miss Cutie ($21-$51) and Les Tinkler owned Newborn ($17-$31).

More Than Great is yet another ultra smart juvenile by Vinery Stud's red hot sire More Than Ready. The past two winners of the Magic Millions 2YO Classic and the Group One Golden Slipper Stakes are by More Than Ready and were graduates of a Magic Millions sales ring. His dam, the Sydney winning Luskin Star mare Great Temptation, is a full sister to stakes performer Atatari and a blood sister to the dam of group winning sire Surtee. More Than Great is also closely related to Golden Slipper and AJC Sires' Produce Stakes winner Sebring.
