Juvenile thoroughbreds are emerging with the first big race, the Magic Millions on the Gold Coast, just weeks away. In the Randwick stable of John O'Shea is the early Magic Millions favourite, Ambers Waltz, reports Craig Young in the Sydney Morning Herald.

He says: The brilliant debut winner goes around at Randwick on Saturday, while its stablemate Solar Charged, which was ruthless when racing for the first time, is due back in the barn on Monday.

O'Shea, who is also eyeing off Saturday's Summer Cup at Randwick with Music Review, suspected both Ambers Waltz and Solar Charged were exciting talents but trainers tire of early morning trackwork wonders. This trainer is sure neither Ambers Waltz nor Solar Charged are one-race wonders.

''I can tell you having trained a very, very good two-year-old [Charge Forward] and a couple of good ones in the last couple of seasons there is a bit of a guide as to the requirements needed to be competitive in major two-year-old races,'' O'Shea said this week.

''I would think these two-year-old fillies I've run more than meet those requirements.''

Charge Forward emerged from a stellar crop of two-year-olds. The best in a decade. Charge Forward beat all but Dance Hero in the Golden Slipper. Left behind were Alinghi and Fastnet Rock.

Dance Hero went on to claim the juvenile grand slam. The Gai Waterhouse-trained youngster added the AJC Sires' Produce and Champagne Stakes trophies to the ones collected in the Golden Slipper and Magic Millions.

Last year, O'Shea's juvenile team included leading contenders Tickets and Wanted. Tickets was runner-up in both the Sires' and Champagne while Wanted, which is by Fastnet Rock, won the Kindergarten Stakes on the way to 10th place in the Golden Slipper.
