TRAINER Con Karakatsanis says his career is in ruins after he and his father Tony yesterday were found guilty of all five counts of conspiring to drug their galloper Howmuchdoyouloveme on race day, reports the Melbourne Herald Sun.

It says: The trainer said privately before the decision that if found guilty he would be "out of business" because of the costs and damage to his reputation -- to be compounded by any penalty imposed by Victoria's Racing Appeals and Disciplinary Board.

"This charge has cost me the best part of $100,000 to defend myself, a few owners have taken horses from my stable already because of the charge, and now I cannot afford to buy at the yearling sales because of the bills to defend myself," he said.

RAD board chairman Judge Russell Lewis said he would hear submissions on the penalties at a date to be fixed next week.

Given the seriousness of the charges, Karakatsanis and his father face a long spell or hefty fine, or both.
