WHETHER the leading spring carnival jockey, Craig Williams, gets his chance to create history in Tuesday's $6.2 million Melbourne Cup will be known on Monday. Williams is down to ride the great races second favourite, Dunaden, while fellow jockey Nash Rawiller, who is booked to partner the US import Unusual Suspect on Tuesday, awaits a similar fate, reports The Age.

It says: Connections of the French stayer Dunaden confirmed yesterday that Christophe Lemaire will be flown in from Japan in case Williams loses an appeal against a careless riding suspension which the Victorian Civil and Administrative Tribunal will hear on Monday.

Both Williams and Rawiller had appeals against similar suspensions incurred at Wednesday's Bendigo Cup meeting dismissed yesterday by the Racing Appeals and Disciplinary Board.
