The famous all-cerise colours of the Ingham family were back to the fore in the Listed Heritage Stakes when Stryker scored a breakthrough win at Rosehill.
Sydney trainers' premiership leader Chris Waller was delighted and relieved to land his first black-type win for Bob Ingham since taking over as his trainer last season.
"I've probably been trying a little bit too hard with their horses. We've been winning a lot of races but I'm still under pressure with their horses," Waller said.
"I know that once we get a few more good wins things will get a bit easier and I'll probably relax a bit more."
Stryker, who cost $600,000 as a yearling, is one of the contingent of yearlings bought by Ingham at the 2008 Easter Sale where he spent around $24 million building his new venture after he sold his Woodlands breeding and racing empire to Sheik Mohammed.
"They are an amazing family. Working with them over the past six months, they've seen a lot of lows and a lot of disappointments with our small team," Waller said.
"They just handle everything in such a positive way.
"I get the opportunity to ring up Mr Ingham once a week, or he rings me, and it just gives you confidence working with a person of that calibre."
The Heritage Stakes holds a special place in the hearts of the Ingham family with Octagonal winning the race in 1995 and his son Lonhro scoring six years later.
Bob Ingham's son John was thrilled with the win by Stryker.
"It is a special race to us and it's nice to be back winning big races again," John Ingham said.
The 1200 metre race was Stryker's ninth start and Jim Cassidy took him to the front and he did well to fight off the gallant Funtantes who appeared to head him in the straight.
Funtantes jockey Chris Munce said the filly copped a slight brush from Stryker near the 100 metres and got unbalanced.
Stryker's long neck victory gave Waller a winning double after The Embassy kept his hopes of running in next month's Metropolitan Handicap alive when he claimed the Winning Edge Presentations Signature Hcp (2400m).
