Stablemates Little Surfer Girl and Deer Valley are barely registering a blip on punters' radars ahead of Saturday's Flight Stakes with More Joyous all the rage for the Group One race, but none of that bothers trainer Chris Waller.

The Rosehill horseman has drawn comparisons between Little Surfer Girl and Deer Valley and stablemate Danleigh who started at $17 and won last Friday's Group One Manikato Stakes at Moonee Valley.

"More Joyous is a very good horse, has been working very well and seems like a superstar," Waller said.

"But I give Deer Valley and Little Surfer Girl great chances.

"It's the same as Danleigh on Friday, he got under the radar and these two are as well."

TAB Sportsbet has the Gai Waterhouse-trained More Joyous as $1.65 favourite ahead of Melito ($4.60) from the Gerald Ryan yard while Deer Valley is rated a $13 chance and Little Surfer Girl is at $17 for the 1600-metre race at Randwick.

"It's good going into these big races with black-type wins and that's what Little Surfer Girl has and Deer Valley won a Group Three a few starts back," Waller said.

The Ingham-owned Little Surfer Girl comes into the Flight after a win in last Saturday's Listed Reginald Allen Handicap (1400m) at Randwick.

She will have the services of champion jockey Darren Beadman and has drawn barrier seven.

"It's a good draw. She raced very well and has come through the race very well," Waller said.

The last-start win was a dramatic turnaround from Little Surfer Girl who ran a shocker at Warwick Farm when unplaced the start before.

"I'm glad we didn't send her to the paddock, we nearly did," Waller said.

"The best part of a horse winning is they almost always pull up well and that gives them a lot of confidence.

"It's when they are hitting a brick wall at the 200 metre mark, that's when they struggle to come through their races.

"They (winners) go home and they eat up and they are the little signs of confidence, overall they are bright and fresh. You can see the confidence in her."

Beadman, who had a long and distinguished association with the Ingham family, takes over from Blake Shinn aboard Little Surfer Girl.

"He's (Beadman) tried and true. Not that Blake did anything wrong and not that the owners asked me to put Beadman on," Waller said.

"I guess that's why the Inghams have been so successful, they leave it up to their trainers and I thought I was doing the right thing by them in booking Beadman.

"Blake is obligated to Gai's stable and if she had something in the race he would have to have ridden that but we've given him a couple of other good rides."

The Flight Stakes is the final leg of the Princess Series and Deer Valley won the opening leg of the series, the Group Three Silver Shadow Stakes (1200m) on August 22.

Deer Valley comes into the race after a third to More Joyous in the Tea Rose Stakes on September 19.

"She's got a good draw (barrier three) for the first time in quite a few starts," Waller said.

"She's had no luck but we might get some from that draw.

"Although she is probably not in the top two fillies in Sydney she is definitely in the top five and goes into the race like an underdog with no pressure on."
