Vision And Power continues to thrive and Saturday's Group One assignment in the $2 million Doncaster at Randwick is unlikely to be the last of his stunning autumn campaign.

The Joe Pride-trained Vision And Power has been the surprise packet of the season and is out to land consecutive major wins in Saturday's 1600-metre feature.

The six-year-old scored a thrilling win last start in the Group One George Ryder Stakes (1500m) on a heavy Rosehill track on April 4.

Pride said there was a strong chance of backing up the gelding in the Group One Queen Elizabeth Stakes (2000m) at Randwick on Anzac Day.

"Thriving is the right word for him, he really is thriving and he's showing no signs of slowing down so unless something happens he should be going around again next week," Pride said.

Only last month the Warwick Farm trainer admitted he had doubts after throwing Vision And Power in the deep end by entering him in the Group One Chipping Norton Stakes (1600m).

But after Vision And Power fought out the finish with multiple Group One winner Tuesday Joy, Pride knew the horse belonged at the top level.

"I felt vindicated that day," Pride said.

"He really stood up and matched it with the best and he showed that he deserved to be in against the best."

Vision And Power will again be ridden by the evergreen Jim Cassidy who is chasing his third Group One in as many weeks.

He followed his win on Vision And Power in the George Ryder with victory aboard the Bart Cummings-trained Roman Emperor in the AJC Australian Derby at Randwick last Saturday.

Pride says Cassidy will have plenty of options with Vision And Power jumping from barrier 12.

"He'll be in the middle somewhere and from there Jimmy's got the chance to put him wherever he needs to," Pride said.

"Everything's right for the horse, now all we need is a bit more rain."

The mudlark has won five and been placed in two of his eight starts on heavy going and Randwick track manager Dave Hodgson expects the surface to be in the slow range.

"It's a slow seven from the 1600 to the 800 metres and a slow six for the remainder but they have forecast some showers tonight, so we'll have to wait and see how much we get," Hodgson said.

Vision And Power is owned by Nick Moraitis and races in his pink, white and grey colours made famous by champion Might And Power.

Cassidy was aboard the horse for Moraitis in many of his big wins including the 1997 Caulfield and Melbourne Cups and the 1998 Cox Plate.

TAB Sportsbet has Vision And Power as equal third favourite for the Doncaster with Whobegotyou at $9.50 behind Hot Danish at $9 and top elect All Silent who is rated a $5 chance.
