Joe Pride is banking on a reunion between an elder statesman of Australia's jockey ranks and his veteran galloper Vision And Power to deliver a Group One result on Saturday.

Pride confirmed Vision And Power, missing from the winner's circle for more than two years, will have Jim Cassidy in the saddle for the $500,000 Doomben Cup.

"It will be good to have the horse reunited with Jimmy, they've had some great moments," Pride said.

Cassidy rode Vision And Power through a dazzling 2009 autumn carnival when they combined for Group One wins in the George Ryder Stakes and the Doncaster Mile.

There have been lean pickings since for Vision And Power but Pride is keeping the faith.

The young trainer was especially upset when the rising nine-year-old missed a start when he was named the emergency in last month's Queen Elizabeth Stakes at Randwick.

His disappointment was compounded when it rained on race day and the Randwick Group One was run on Vision And Power's preferred heavy surface.

Cassidy, a three-time Doomben Cup-winning rider courtesy of his association with New Zealand's no-nonsense champion Rough Habit, hasn't ridden Vision And Power in a race since last year's Eagle Farm Cup.

He was also in the saddle when the gelding finished midfield to Metal Bender in the 2010 Doomben Cup.

Pride has elected to take the same path into this year's race - via a Lord Mayor's Cup placing in Sydney - and he says any Brisbane rain will bring Vision And Power into the reckoning on Saturday.

"He'll have his last bit of serious work on Tuesday and then head to Brisbane on Thursday. I'll leave it as late as possible before going," Pride said.

"Hopefully by the time Saturday comes around there will be a bit of rain about."

Vision And Power is raced by Nick Moraitis, the high-profile owner whose colours were carried to 1998 Doomben Cup success on his benchmark stayer Might And Power.

Might And Power was unbackable for rank-and-file punters as he defeated Intergaze as the $1.18 favourite.

In contrast, Vision And Power will be one of the outsiders on Saturday with pre-post operator TAB Sportsbet reporting minimal interest in his chances at $21.

Pride will also send Sydney carnival winner Ladys Angel north to run in the Group Three Glenlogan Park Stakes.

Ladys Angel, who relished a wet track to win the Hall Mark Stakes at Randwick on April 23, was scratched from the Dark Jewel Classic at Scone.

"At this stage Vision And Power and Ladys Angel are my only definite runners in Brisbane during the carnival," Pride said.

"There could be more but we'll wait and see."
