An improving track at Rosehill is a boost for Carnegie House as he attempts to recapture form in the $100,000 Stayers' Cup.

The five-year-old beat subsequent Queensland Derby winner Empires Choice in the Group Three Frank Packer Plate two years ago but has not been able to claim another win since.

After an encouraging second to Deltona over 1900 metres at Canterbury on May 16, Carnegie House struck a heavy track when a tiring 11th of 12 in the Listed McKell Cup on May 30 won by Ready To Lift.

Trainer Anthony Cummings said the wet conditions brought about Carnegie House's undoing.

"The wet track was against him and he didn't handle it," Cummings said.

"I'm sure he can do better on a better track."

Carnegie House will be ridden by Jay Ford at what is his last meeting before he flies to England to partner Takeover Target in his bid to win the Golden Jubilee Stakes at next week's Royal Ascot meeting.

Ford has been aboard the champion sprinter for all but one of his victories which include the 2006 King's Stand at the Royal meeting.

Takeover Target ran third in the Golden Jubilee that year, second in 2007 and fourth last year.

Carnegie House and Sussman are the $23 outsiders with TAB Sportsbet with Nuclear Sky favourite at $5.50 on Saturday ahead of the Kevin Moses-trained Deltona who shares the second line at $6.50 with Tangalooma and Diamondsondinside.

The Kim Waugh-trained Tangalooma was an unlucky third in the Andrew Ramsden won by Phaze Action at Flemington on May 16.

His stablemate Risayla is also returning from an interstate trip after finishing seventh to Reggie in the Premier's Cup at Doomben on May 23.

Cummings' other runner at Rosehill is Epsom Downs in the Inghams Love'Em Handicap (1900m) with Jeff Penza to take the ride.

The trainer will return to Queensland next week to oversee the preparation of Prima Nova for the final Group One race of the season, the Winter Stakes (1400m) at Eagle Farm on June 20.

Wet tracks in the north have played havoc with the mare's program and she hasn't raced since finishing 4-1/2 lengths sixth in the Group One Doomben Cup on May 16 won by Scenic Shot.

"She will run in the Winter Stakes," Cummings said.

"She has done very well but she just doesn't like the wet tracks."

Prima Nova scored a valuable black-type win in April when she outlasted Lyncean Academy to claim the JRA Plate at Randwick.
