Tired of talking about what's wrong with Sydney race programming, trainer Gerald Ryan has decided to illustrate the problem by nominating Mazuka for four races at Rosehill.

Ryan said it was ridiculous for the three-year-old to be eligible for four races at the one meeting, especially when he would be competitive in all.

"How on one program of races can I enter one horse in four races and he wouldn't be out of place in any of them," Ryan said.

"They wonder why they get small fields.

"There is not enough diversity among the classes.

"I entered him in all four races as an exercise. It was an experiment but it shouldn't happen."

The three-year-old, who has won one of his seven starts and been placed in two, is the highest rated horse at 72 in the 1500m race restricted to no more than two metropolitan wins for his own age group.

He is the equal highest rated in the 1200m race with the same conditions.

Ryan also entered Mazuka in two races for three-year-olds and up who have won no more than one metropolitan event, one over 1200m and one over 1400m.

"He will probably run in the 1500-metre race, that's the intention," Ryan said.

"But that means he has to carry top weight which doesn't help.

"Apart from that he's fine. He won well at Warwick Farm and then didn't get the best of runs at Rosehill."

Mazuka was spruiked as a potential Golden Slipper contender early in the year and started favourite on debut in the Kindergarten Stakes in which he finished third.

He missed a Slipper start when unplaced in the Todman Stakes and was again out of the money in the Baillieu Handicap on a wet track.

At his third start this preparation he broke his maiden over 1400m at Warwick Farm and was a close third, beaten a short-head and a nose, at Rosehill last Saturday week.

Stablemate Sta Volando, who finished second in the Rosehill race to Snow Alert, is also among the nine entries for the 1500m event.

The two-year-old open handicap over 1100m also attracted nine nominations including the Ryan-trained Miss Vee who is an unlikely starter and will run in a barrier trial at Rosehill on Tuesday.
