Peter Snowden is hoping for a more genuine tempo in Saturday's Group One Flight Stakes to give Parables the best chance of turning the tables on More Strawberries.

More Strawberries has beaten Parables home in the past two legs of the fillies Princess Series when winning the Furious Stakes (1400m) and the Tea Rose Stakes (1500m).

On both occasions the Gai Waterhouse-trained filly has been able to dictate terms in front and Parables has been unable to bridge the gap.

The two quality three-year-olds drew away from the rest of the field in the Tea Rose on September 18 and have been installed as the two favourites again for the 1600m Group One at Randwick.

More Strawberries was the $2.30 favourite on Wednesday ahead of Parables at $2.70 while Group One Sires' Produce Stakes winner Yosei was next at $7.50.

"They (More Strawberries and Parables) are both quality fillies, there's no doubt about that," Snowden said.

"But the running of the race plays a big part in Parables' chances. If it's a truly-run race it certainly does help her, to my way of thinking, better than it does More Strawberries.

"However if it's a sit-and-run type event then it helps More Strawberries more than us."

More Strawberries, to be ridden by Nash Rawiller, will begin from the inside barrier in the field of 12 while Parables (Corey Brown) will jump from gate six.

Melbourne visitor Yosei drew barrier nine with Michelle Payne to ride while the Tim Martin-trained Sasa drops back in distance from the Gloaming Stakes (1800m) and will begin from barrier three.

Snowden was hoping the inclusion of Sasa might provide a stronger tempo but Martin has indicated he doesn't want Sasa to be used up early from her good draw.

Parables was a brilliant first-up winner of the Group Three Silver Shadow Stakes (1200m) at Warwick Farm, coming from a long way back to reel in Solar Charged.

The daughter of Lonhro then finished third in the Furious Stakes and second in the Tea Rose leading into the Flight.

"If she gets the right sort of race run on Saturday, she's certainly up to winning it," Snowden said.

The Flight Stakes has always been the main spring aim for Parables but Snowden hasn't ruled out extending her campaign to Melbourne after Saturday.

"It's not necessarily her grand final, we'll see how she runs this week first," he said.
