Trainer Peter Snowden is undecided whether exciting filly Trim will extend her winter campaign past the Group Two Champagne Classic at Doomben.

Snowden has three other runners engaged at Saturday's meeting but has declared three-year-old Desuetude, who runs in the Group Three BTC Classic (1350m), as the only definite runner from his quartet who will campaign in Melbourne during the spring.

El Cambio will also represent the Snowden stable in Saturday's Group Three BTC Sprint (1350m) while Purple will run despite drawing barrier 20 in the Group Three Doomben Roses (2020m).

"I'll wait and see with Trim," Snowden said.

"She's a nice filly who has won only one race but I was amazed when I went up there and saw her on Tuesday morning.

"She's taken significant improvement from her run at the Gold Coast last start."

The option Snowden has with Trim is to press ahead during the winter carnival and give the Lonhro filly one more start in the Group Two Sires' Produce Stakes (1400m) at Eagle Farm on May 30.

Trim was considered a good thing beaten when runner-up to Bruce McLachlan's exciting youngster Facile Tigre in the Listed Ken Russell Memorial Classic (1200m) at the Gold Coast on May 2.

Jockey Kerrin McEvoy was held up at a crucial stage and had trouble getting Trim into the clear in the home straight.

Trim will again clash with Facile Tigre in the 1200-metre feature and Snowden is hoping to turn the tables on the Queenslander.

"Trim ran a great race at the Gold Coast and she's trained on very well," Snowden said.

"This looks a similar field and she's been working really well."

Snowden was delighted with Desuetude's third to star Toowoomba filly Chakvetadze in the Group Three Gold Coast Guineas (1200m) last start.

"It was a terrific run from barrier 16 and he was never better than four or five wide," he said.

"He's drawn a lot better this time (seven) and he'll run a good race again but this race will pull him up for the winter.

"I'll probably take him to Melbourne in the spring but I haven't got any particular race in mind just yet."

Snowden is hopeful El Cambio can produce a strong performance in the BTC Sprint ahead of his major assignment in next month's Group One Stradbroke Handicap (1400m) at Eagle Farm.

"He had a big weight and ran a good race to finish third in the Prime Minister's Cup but he's got another big weight (58kg) again on Saturday," he said.

"From barrier three he should get the run of the race."

Snowden is unconcerned Purple hasn't raced for almost a month since finishing seventh to Daffodil in the Group One AJC Australian Oaks (2400m) at Randwick on April 18.

"She's got a bad draw but she pulled up well after her Oaks run," he said.

"It doesn't matter that she hasn't raced for a while as she's had a good grounding this campaign."
