Peter Snowden was confident Kanzan was the pick of Darley's four-pronged attack in the race it sponsors and the trainer was proven correct as the mare led in a stable trifecta in the Darley Crown.

Kanzan came home 1-1/4 lengths in front of Screen ($13) with another short neck to Dysphonia ($20) to give Sheikh Mohammed's Darley operation its third win in the Listed 1300m fillies and mare Hawkesbury feature in the past four years.

The Kris Lees-trained Zingaling thwarted a Darley first four as she split Dysphonia and Jerezana to finish fourth.

Kanzan's wet track credentials and unbeaten record at the track saw her sent out the $3.30 favourite and she didn't let her supporters down as Corey Brown brought her down the centre of the track in the straight to overhaul her rivals.

Josh Parr had elected to cut the corner on Screen turning for home and she looked a winning hope but Kanzan got the measure of her stablemate to record her third win from as many starts at the track.

"She had been working really well out at the farm and was really thriving," Snowden said of the winner.

"Her work on Monday morning was brilliant. I thought if she could bring that work here she was going to be hard to beat and then when the rain came it was a bonus.

"She had won twice before at the track so she had a lot of things in her favour."

The trainer has pencilled Kanzan in for the Listed Dark Jewel (1400m) at Scone on May 14 when she is likely to be joined by runner-up Screen, Shannara and another Hawkesbury winner in Mascareri.

Dysphonia will also race at Scone's two-day carnival but she will tackle the Scone Cup (1600m) a day earlier.

Although not the biggest race on the Australian calendar, Snowden had set the mares for the Hawkesbury event and was delighted all four made their presence felt.

"It's always good to win the race you sponsor," he said.

Parr felt the track conditions played into the winner's favour on the day but couldn't fault the effort of the runner-up.

"She went terrific and I think on a dry track she probably would have beaten the winner," he said.
