Jockey Chris Munce insisted Sheeznodoubt was worthy of a shot at trying to qualify for next month's Golden Slipper after the filly made a winning return to racing at Warwick Farm.

"She's not far off them and you're mad if you don't give her a chance," Munce told trainer Gary Portelli after the Ashcroft Handicap (1100m).

Sheeznodoubt's victory came less than 24 hours after Portelli and Munce combined to win the Black Opal Stakes with Delago Bolt.

Delago Bolt's Canberra victory ensured he is safely in the $3.5 million Golden Slipper field but Sheeznodoubt, a daughter of first season sire Not A Single Doubt, will need to win a ballot-exempt race - or at least run in the placings - to confirm her bid.

Sheeznodoubt was having her first run since a two-start spring campaign that resulted in fourth placings in the Gimcrack Stakes at Randwick and a support race on Cox Plate day at Moonee Valley.

"She did a good job in the spring because it was always a rush to get her ready when the sales last year were put back because of EI," Portelli said.

"She virtually went straight from the breakers into the stable and then started in the Gimcrack before going to Melbourne.

"It is obvious from today she is a lot stronger now. I thought she might have been one run short because of the soft track but she has got a bit of class on her side."

Sheeznodoubt, the $2.20 favourite, made the running from an inside gate and she kicked at the turn before holding on to beat Hush Up ($16) by long neck.

Tee Tee Dancer ($7.50) finished a half-length away third with expensive filly Samantha's Charm winding up fifth.

Carrying the colours of sidelined glamour filly Samantha Miss, Samantha's Charm came out slowly and settled at the tail of the field.

Blake Shinn saved ground on Samantha's Charm and she worked home in encouraging style.

"She has a lot to learn about being a racehorse but I thought the run was promising," trainer Kris Lees said of the $1.8 million Redoute's Choice filly.

A gear change, meanwhile, made the difference to Endeavouring, winner of the second two-year-old division, the Landa Park Handicap (1100m).

Endeavouring flopped on debut under lights at Canterbury but trainer Clarry Conners employed the blinkers with instant results.

"I decided to put the blinkers on her and she really responded," Conners said.

Endeavouring, a $14 chance, lasted to beat the dead-heaters Bolocco Miss and Miss Macarthur by a long neck.
