Starspangledbanner has continued the rich vein of form for the Leon Corstens stable with a debut victory in the $250,000 Inglis Juvenile at Moonee Valley, giving jockey Vlad Duric the first two winners on the Cox Plate program.

By international sprint star Choisir, Starspangledbanner ($4.40) will be aimed at the Blue Diamond Stakes and perhaps the Golden Slipper next year but for now he will be rested.

"He has gone ahead in leaps and bounds but is growing like hell so he will go to the paddock now," Corstens said.

"He has a very bright future and I was quite confident today after his last trial which he won.

"I'm hoping he can measure up to the better races. He is a lot like his dad but at the moment he wants to lay down a bit."

Duric agreed the colt got tired after leading from the outset to hold on by a short half-head over No Comment ($14) who started from barrier 10 of 12 and surged late with Bawaardi ($10) third another half-length away.

Sydney filly Sheeznodoubt ($9) was fourth after tracking the winner while $2.35 favourite, Gimcrack Stakes winner Our Joan Of Arc, was fifth with barrier one acting against her.

For Duric it was a great start to the day.

"I was confident coming here I had a good book of rides and it's a great start on a big day," he said.

"He is a very promising colt and I liked him from early on.

"He got a bit tired at the end but had enough left."
