Cox Plate day holds fond memories for Gold Coast trainer Gillian Heinrich who hopes to be at Moonee Valley again this year with talented sprinter Ghetto Blaster if he is successful at Eagle Farm on Saturday.

Heinrich will start the highly-rated Ghetto Blaster in the Marist College Ashgrove Handicap (1200m) before sending him and stablemate Dance The Waves to Melbourne by plane next week.

The pair was originally scheduled to be in Melbourne last week but Heinrich delayed the trip after it became clear Ghetto Blaster would not make the field for the Group Two Gilgai Stakes (1200m) at Flemington last Saturday.

"They were booked to fly down last week but luckily I waited until the acceptances came out for the Gilgai when Ghetto Blaster was second emergency," Heinrich said.

"He would have gone down if he was first emergency but it was too much of a risk to go down only being second emergency.

"As it turned out there was one scratching and he would have got a run if he was first emergency so I think we did the right thing staying home for another week."

Heinrich is aiming Ghetto Blaster, a son of Lujain, for the Group Three Red Anchor Stakes (1200m) at Moonee Valley on October 25.

A win from Ghetto Blaster would revive fond memories for Heinrich whose former top sprinter All Bar One scored a six-length win the same day champion Makybe Diva won the Cox Plate in 2005.

Dance The Waves, who was narrowly beaten with 60.5kg in his return over 1110 metres at Doomben last month, campaigned in Melbourne early last year when he won the Group Three Rubiton Stakes (1100m) at Caulfield.

He subsequently finished sixth at Group One level in the Lightning Stakes (1000m) at Moonee Valley and Oakleigh Plate (1100m) at Caulfield.

Heinrich cannot fault Ghetto Blaster since his commanding victory in his comeback over 1200 metres at Eagle Farm on September 13.

"He's pulled up well and I can't wait to get him racing again," Heinrich said.

Heinrich will also start Tour Guide against Ghetto Blaster but is undecided on the future for the son of Flying Spur.

Tour Guide and Ghetto Blaster have similar records with both winning seven times in their career.

"Tour Guide has really done well since his Doomben win but I'm not sure where to head with him," Heinrich said.

"Rasmussen won at the Gold Coast last Saturday and it's hard at the moment trying to avoid him clashing with Tour Guide."

Ric McMahon will be the new jockey for Ghetto Blaster replacing Scott Seamer who is riding at Caulfield while Jason Holder will partner Tour Guide.
