Trainer Gary Portelli believes there are plenty of reasons to be excited about the prospects of Sheeznodoubt in the Group Two Magic Night Stakes at Rosehill.
Sheeznodoubt's hopes of running in next week's $3.5 million Golden Slipper will go on the line in Saturday's 1200-metre race but Portelli admits there is a query on the filly running the trip.
"We're not sure if she'll run it but if she does then we'll be having a look at the Slipper for sure," Portelli said.
Sheeznodoubt broke her maiden status at her third start with a narrow victory over 1100m at Warwick Farm on March 9.
Portelli says the Not A Single Doubt filly will give the field something to chase at Rosehill.
"She's got a good barrier (two), she's worked brilliantly since her win the other day and she's got one of the best, if not the best, riders of frontrunners aboard in Chris Munce, she's got plenty going for her in this race," Portelli said.
"She's an absolute flying machine this horse and hopefully everybody gets to see that on Saturday."
Portelli is not as confident about the chances of stablemate Romanus who drew the widest barrier, nine, in the Group Two Pago Pago Stakes (1200m).
The Encosta De Lago colt is out of 2002 Victorian Oaks winner Bulla Borghese and won a 1200-metre race on a heavy track at Rosehill in late February.
"The only hope he's got is if they put the speed on in a big way and then he's still going to need some luck coming from the back," Portelli said.
"But you can never write them off when they've got as much ability as he has."
Romanus finished third to Golden Slipper hopeful Manhattan Rain in the Group Two Skyline Stakes (1200m) at Randwick on March 14.
"The horse is being aimed at the Sires and Champagne and from that point of view he is spot-on, so it's not doom and gloom if things don't go our way Saturday," Portelli said.
Stablemate Delago Bolt, who is rated a $21 chance for the Golden Slipper, runs in a star-studded opening barrier trial at Randwick on Friday.
The Black Opal Stakes winner lines up in the 1200-metre open trial which features Hot Danish, Pompeii Ruler, Alamosa and Light Fantastic.
