It hasn't been the best of springs for trainer Gerald Ryan who is looking to up and coming filly Saramenha to brighten things up on Saturday.

Stable star Melito is in the spelling paddock after a two-start campaign where she finished a long way behind Black Caviar both times.

Group One placegetter Hinchinbrook has also gone for a break after a mixed preparation while the future of Rothesay hinges on a veterinary examination.

Rothesay is banned from racing in Australia after suffering his second bleeding attack and is undergoing tests to determine whether he is suitable to race in America on medication or if he goes to stud.

Hus Der Lieften has also left the stable and is now with David Hall in Hong Kong but has yet to race there.

Saramenha shone a light for the stable with her last-start demolition of a field of two-year-olds at Rosehill similar to what she faces at the same track on Saturday.

"I don't know how much depth there was in the field she beat the other day," Ryan said.

"But she ran good time and has done well since the race so she will run on Saturday with Nathan Berry aboard again.

"We'll see how she goes before we decide where we go next."

Saramenha beat Bench Star by 6-1/2 lengths over 1100 metres on October 30 with Zippy Zariz another 3-1/2 lengths third with both placegetters among the 10 nominations for Saturday.

Also in the mix is the Peter Snowden-trained Eleuther, the first foal from Group One-winning mare Mnemosyne.

Raced by Sheikh Mohammed's Darley Australia, Commands colt Eleuther has had one public barrier trial for a second to Make A Move.

Stakeswinner Ego's Dare represents Ryan among the older brigade in the 1200-metre open handicap on the program.

"He will only run if it's dry," Ryan said.

Ego's Dare was one of 12 nominations which include Group One placegetter Keen Commander and veteran stakes performer Hadaaf.

Ryan has yet to decide if Champagne Dynamite and Dances on Waves will run on their home track or Canterbury on Friday night.
